    “Wide Awake” – Rena Papageorgiou

The music concert titled “Wide Awake” focuses on the concept of freedom of expression as a fundamental value of contemporary culture and constitutes a high-aesthetic acoustic presentation, continuing the thematic and artistic journey of the work also presented at the Embassy of Greece in Berlin. The central presence is Rena Papageorgiou, a Greek-American singer, visual artist, composer, and lyricist based in Athens and New York. Her multifaceted artistic work moves between music, the visual arts, and the written word, focusing on the deeper psychological blend of human existence, freedom of expression, trauma, and transformation.

The 60-minute musical program is based on original compositions by Rena Papageorgiou and Sarantos Goumakos, from her musical-theatrical work “Wide Awake,” which is based on the book of the same name and thematically revolves around freedom of expression and existence, liberation from domestic violence, inner awakening, and rebirth. Joined by Sarantos Goumakos (guitar, voice), Tasos Gousetis (violin), and Konstantinos Chaligiannis (piano), they offer a unique musical experience for the audience.

The work, through Greek and English lyrics, offers a complete, multi-layered, and experiential artistic encounter, with an optimistic yet at the same time deeply emotional approach to human nature and the potential for psychological and spiritual growth.
