The production “Delos” is an original contemporary dance performance by the internationally acclaimed Greek choreographer Yannis Antoniou. The work is inspired by the history of the island of Delos. As we seek a point of contact between the past and the present, our contemporary bodies become vessels of creation and discovery for a personal homeland. On this personal journey, the connecting thread is the continuous rhythms of the drumming, and together with Nikos Gianniou’s electronic sounds in relation to the environment in which the performance unfolds, the performers come to life by combining movement, speech, vocals, and visual interventions, creating a performance that aims to immerse the audience in a unique experience. The work was created following an invitation from the Cyclades Antiquities Authority to create a contemporary performance on the island of Delos.
